Shopping scams succeed when you are rushing or chasing a deal that feels too good to be true. The goal is to slow down and verify the seller before you pay.

Verify the store

  • Search the store name plus "reviews" and "scam".
  • Check the domain age if the site is unfamiliar.
  • Look for a real return policy and contact info.

Use safer payment methods

Credit cards and virtual cards give you the best protection. Avoid wire transfers, gift cards, or crypto payments for retail purchases.

Watch for delivery scams

Fake delivery texts are common after you shop online. Always track orders inside the official retailer app or site, not via text links.

If the price is dramatically lower than every other store, assume it is a trap until you verify the seller.
